Automated Engraver Replaces Hand Loaded Fixtures

SPX Fluid Power* is the satisfied recipient of a new concept in automated engraving. A coordinated effort between Newing-Hall and actiOn feed systems resulted in a two-station, magazine and bowl fed, programmable engraving system that is designated to provide the imprinting of three different parts used in the manufacture of hydraulic pump assemblies.

While Newing-Hall’s advanced software allows for virtually unlimited design options, including logos and symbols, this particular system is set up for marking compression settings, part identifications, date and batch numbers for quality control.

As is typical, the engraver is set-up to perform its functions via pc, normally one piece at a time. actiOn feed systems contribution was the design, assembly and programming of the components involved in the automatic presentation and ejection of parts.

The new unit will free up the operator (who formerly hand loaded several pieces at a time into a fixture for pin stamping) to perform other tasks associated with assembly and QC on SPX’s respected line of hydraulic pumps and accessories. As an added benefit, the new diamond tipped engraver provides clean, crisp marking that enhances the visual impact of the product.
