Operators at Fenner Fluid Power, a local manufacturer of hydraulic pumps, were appreciative of a work space improvement made by actiOn feed systems.
The semi-automated pump assembly line originally had four small feeder bowls supplying nuts for the many pumps assembled throughout each day. The problem was the operator needed to manually place four bolts on each pump in the small working area between the bowls.
The solution was to remove the two bowls closest to the operators’ elbows. Two slightly larger bowls were designed, fabricated and installed on the inside of the assembly area, allowing for more ease in bolt placement. Each bowl has two lanes of discharge and gravity tracks present the parts to the semi-automatic escapement/insertion tooling.
